2009 U.S. Teaching Schedule For H.E. Gochen Tulku Sang Ngak ( Tibetan Buddhist Nyingma lineage )
Keywords: Nyingma, Great Perfection / Dzogchen, tantric transmissions and retreats, H.E. Gochen Tulku Sang Ngak, Ewam USA.
Here I provide details on the current 2009 teaching schedule, practice centers, and background for H.E. Gochen Tulku, a most accomplished Tibetan yogi.
His Eminence is a major teacher and incarnate guru in the Earlier Transmission ( Nyingma ) of Buddhist tantra into Tibet from India, as established by the Great Guru Padmasambhava, in particular of the Primordial Awareness Yoga known as "Atiyoga", that is, the Great Perfection, a.k.a. "Dzogchen" in Tibetan.
For more information on esoteric Buddhist tantra in the form of Nyingma and Dzogchen materials, see Snow Lion Publications online
www.snowlionpub.com/
and the book
"The Crystal and the Way of Light", by Namkhai Norbu.
For current information on H.E. Gochen Tulku, his Evam USA organization and their projects and teaching schedules, see
www.ewam.org/
H.E. Gochen Tulku is a lineage holder and has even transmitted a major tantric / atiyoga cycle TO H.H. Dilgo Khyentse Rinbochay, but is not yet well known in the West. He is nevertheless a very important teacher in several western Nyingma fellowships such as Chagdud Gonpa Foundation and the Dudjom Yeshe Nyingpo.
I have seen this teacher several times from 1997 to 2000, and received numerous major transmissions, including some that are both extremely rare and very powerful. He is truly extraordinary and I strongly recommend him to those who wish to connect with the inner Early Transmission and the Great Perfection.
This year he is teaching in Montana, Colorado, and California ( see below ). This schedule includes extraordinary healing practice ( Vajra Armor ), and extraordinary goddess yoga ( White Dakini ). Note that I do *not* represent this teacher, and schedule details are subject to change.
The merit of sharing this teaching is dedicated to the life and spiritual work of H.E. Gochen Tulku, with great gratitude, and to the continued development of these tantric lineages, with the hope that these will be profoundly beneficial to many.
Sarva mangalam. Siddhi rastu!

"Tulku Sang ngag Rinpoche, the sixth Gochen Tulku, is an incarnation of Gyalwa Chokyang, one of the close disciples of Padmasambhava. Recognized at the age of three, Rinpoche began learning religious rituals and liturgies, as well as traditional Tibetan medicine, at an early age.
"Rinpoche met his root guru, Tulku Orgyen Chemchok, in a Chinese prison where he was held for nine years. Here he received teachings and secret transmissions. Upon release, Rinpoche met his other root teacher, H.H. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, with whom he traveled, studied, and practiced intensively for nearly fourteen years.
Rinpoche teaches worldwide and oversees his two retreat centers in Pharping: Yuloko Nunnery and Phurpaling, a dharma center in Taiwan and his U.S. retreat center, Ewam Sang-ngag Ling, located in Arlee, Montana."

Schedule for H.E. Gochen Tulku Sang Ngak for 2009
White Dakini Drub Chen
with Tulku Sang ngag Rinpoche & Lama Tsultrim Allione
August 23 - 31, 2009
Tara Mandala Colorado
See www.taramandala.org/
White Dakini Drub Chen. For the first time in the West a Drub Chen (Great Accomplishment Ceremony) of the White Dakini ( White Goddess ) practice from Do Khyentse’s Dzinpa Rangdröl (Self-Liberation from Fixation) treasure cycle will be performed. This lineage comes directly from Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche to Tulku Sang ngag who will be the Vajra Master at the Drub Chen.
We will experience a traditional empowerment given by Tulku Sang ngag, and we will be lead through an in depth process of learning and practicing the White Dakini mandala. This White Dakini practice is the union of Machig Labdron and Yeshe Tsogyel surrounded by the dakinis of the five families. During the retreat, in addition to the precious teachings from Tulku Sang gnag, Lama Tsultrim will help frame the experience through discussion and further teachings.
The White Dakini practice will be established as a key practice at Tara Mandala and links directly to Machig through Yeshe Tsogyel, her previous incarnation. This is an opportunity to be in the first group receiving this lineage transmission and is open to anyone interested. In addition, it is a strictly closed retreat and requires intensive practice and the ability to hold the container.
During the Drub Chen traditional instruments will be played, a mandala will be created, and continual mantra recitation will occur. The participants will experience deep immersion in the Vajra world. This is an exciting deepening of the tradition at Tara Mandala and we encourage everyone drawn to be here to come. Mipham Rinpoche said, ”One Drub Chen is equal to seven years of solitary retreat.”

Vajra Armor Retreat

Mt. Shasta, CA
please contact John Cashman at (530) 926-5196.
"The Vajra Armor Mantra (Tib. Dorje Go-Drab), is among the most powerful healing practices in Tantric Buddhism. Long held as a secret practice, it has been practiced for over a millenium by tantric adepts and Tibetan physicians as an effective method for treating diseases, purifying negative energies and protection from misfortune.
"The Vajra Armor Mantra was first introduced into Tibet in the eighth century by Padmasambhava, who had collected various teachings and practices on this mantra from the ancient Indian Buddhist tradition. After teaching his close disciples in Tibet, he hid the Vajra Armor teachings in 124 places, to be discovered by future ‘treasure finders’ as prophesied in his writings.
"Padmasambhava predicted that a time would come when there would be a great need for this mantra and to preserve the integrity of the teachings and lineage, he hid different versions of this practice in many different places for safekeeping, until the designated treasure finder would reintroduce them to the world.
Over the past one thousand years, there have been numerous major teaching cycles of the Vajra Armor Mantra that have been revealed, including those of Dorje Lingpa, Mipham, Dudjom Lingpa, and Trak-t’hung Namkha’I Jigme. These teachings outline a deep and profound path to realization and ultimately to Buddhahood through the practice of healing and rebalancing the outer and inner elements."

It would be spam, if I did not follow up to any and all criticisms.
My Dalai Lama article went out to many tribes. He's a world class teacher on a world class tour ( five continents ). Severla people got to thank me or make attacks, as they chose.
This is viral marketing, to be sure. It's not trash. His Eminence Gochen Tulku is a world class teacher too. His teaching of Primordial Awareness Yoga is very much at the center focus of this tribe Consciousness Expansion.

Re: 2009 U.S. Teaching Schedule: here is the follow up, in the form of a set of book references
Mon, July 20, 2009 - 1:28 PM
I am glad to be able to make this a more substantial and accessible article.
Below are provided substantial book references, for which you can view a good number of excerpts online at the referenced author links.
These really do give a definite sense and flavor for the types of transmissions to be given by His Eminence Gochen Tulku. I hope this is of help.
If you want a substantial discussion, this is where it begins - with high quality and central source materials.
The basic point here is that yes, Dzogchen, the Great Perfection, is truly a profound and most important form of awareness yoga among all the Buddhist teachings. So now, with all the Snow Lion books on Dzgchen to back this up, and all the many transmissions of Dzogchen that have been given in the West, I have fully established that point.
References follow. And since I posted this as an article, *and* have provided substantial references, we really can have that discussion.
Best to all,
KT

THE GOLDEN LETTERS: The Three Statements of Garab Dorje, the First Human Teacher of Dzogchen, together with a Commentary by Dza Patrul Rinpoche entitled
"The Special Teaching of the Wise and Glorious King;"
Foreword by Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche,
A Short Commentary on the Three Statements by HH Dudjom Rinpoche,
Translation, Introduction, and Commentaries by John Myrdhin Reynolds,
Snow Lion Publications, Ithaca, New York, 1996.
"According to the ancient traditions of the Nyingmapa school of Tibetan Buddhism, the central teachings of dzogchen, "the Great Perfection," were first expounded in the human world by the great Buddhist master Garab Dorje from the mysterious country of Uddiyana (Eastern Afghanistan). This core Buddhist teaching directly introduces the meditation practitioner to the Nature of Mind, or innate Buddha-nature, which has been there from the very beginning, since before Samsara itself came into manifestation, but which goes unrecognized lifetime after lifetime because it is covered over by adventitious obscurations and negative karma. The practice of dzogchen purifies and removes these layers of the clouds of obscuration an d karma, so that one's own original nature, intrinsic awareness or Rigpa, shines through like the face of the sun in the sky free of clouds. From Uddiyana, the Dzogchen teachings were brought to India by Manjushrimitra and, in turn, his disciple Shrisimha transmitted them to three students, Padmasambhava, Vimalamitra, and Vairochana the Tibetan translato, who brought them to Tibet. Since then these Dzogchen teachings have been preserved and propagated within the traditions of the nyingmapa school of Tibet established by Guru Padmasambhava in the eighth century of our era.
"The essence of Garab Dorje's message or kerygma is found in his last testament delived to Manjushrimitra after the master had passed into Nirvana by way of attaining the Rainbow Body of Light, the culmination of the practice of Dzogchen. Having dissolved his physical body into pure radiant energy and fading into the clear open spaces of the sky, he reappeared as a resurrected Body of Light in the guise of a sixteen year old youth inside a rainbow sphere of light suspended in the middle of the cloudless sky. This last testament or final posthumous communcation ('das-rjes) is known as "The Three Statements that Strike the Essential Points," (Tshig gsum gnad brdeg), and represents the quintessence of the Dzogchen teachings.
"In the nineteenth century in Eastern Tibet, the famous master Patrul Rinpoche wrote a brilliant commentary on these three statements, together with the contemplation practices relating to them, entiled "The Special Teachings of the Wise and Glorious King," (mKas-pa shri rgyal-po' khyad chos). In this volume these important Dzogchen texts of Garab Dorje and Patrul Rinpoche are translated from the Tibetan into contemporary English. Notes, commentaries, and glossary of Dzogchen terms are also included."

which has information and excerpts related to book
" Eye of the Storm: Vairotsana's Five Original Transmissions"
Eye of the Storm is a translation of Vairotsana's five original transmissions (Snga 'gyur lnga) , the five seminal tantras of the Mind Series of Dzogchen Precepts, with a commentary from the Mdo bcu, by Keith Dowman, a foreword by Bhakha Tulku Pema Rigdzin, published by Vajra Publications in Kathmandu, Nepal.
For a short introductory meditation text on dzogchen, see book
"THE CYCLE OF DAY AND NIGHT,
where one proceeds along the Path of the Primordial Yoga"
A Basic Text of the Practice of Dzogchen by Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche, ttranslated and Edited by John Myrdhin Reynolds
"The Cycle of the Day and Night where one proceeds along the Path of the Primordial Yoga" (gdod-ma'i rnal-'byor gyi lam khyer nyin mtsham 'kor-lo-ma) is a presentation of the fundamentals of Dzogchen practice in a clear and precise manner by one the leading exponents of Dzogchen in the West, Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche. Central to the practice of Dzogchen, the Great Perfection, is the making of contemplation into a continuous process through one's activities during all twenty-four hours of the day. Thus, the author describes the Practice of the Day (nyin gyi rnal-'byor) where one simply observes the rise and fall of one's thoughts and gazes into the open clear dimension of the sky and a Practice of the Night (mtshan gyi rnal-'byor) entailing thge taking of awarenress into sleep and thereafter lucid dreaming. Followng these simple methods, the practitioner develops in the state of contemplation. Based on the teachings of Garab Dorje, the first human master in the Dzogchen lineage from Uddiyana, this volume consists of a translation from the original Tibetan of the author's verse text, together with a commentary drawn from the author's own more extensive oral comentary. A reproduction of the original Tibetan text, as well as a glossary of Dzogchen terms and a biographical sketch of the Tibetan author are included.
For information on Yeshe Tsogyel and the Nyingma school, see
www.keithdowman.net/books/sd.htm
which has introduction and excerpts from "Sky Dancer: The Secret Life and Songs of the Lady Yeshe Tsogyel"
'Among the great female adepts of Tibetan Tantra, Yeshe Tsogyel is foremost, and this masterpiece of Tibetan biographical literature conveys the meaning of her sublime apocalyptic life with lyrical beauty. Yeshe Tsogyel was an eighth century Tibetan princess who became the tantric consort of Tibet's Great Guru Padmasambhava. Her exemplary life story describes the ideal path of a yogini (a female practitioner) and in so far as it provides a blueprint for every woman who aspires to Buddhahood, Sky Danceris one of the most important translations to be made from the Tibetan. It describes her motivation, the initiations taken from the Guru, her path of practice, her tribulations and the impediments in meditation practice, and the signs of her success in realisation of her buddha nature. 'Skydancer' is a translation of the Tibetan word 'Khandroma' (dakini), 'female buddha'. Many of the songs provide secret precepts given to her by her teachers and by her to her disciples. These oral instructions belonging to the supreme path of tantra (anuttara-yoga-tantra) and Dzokchen provide the core of the biography.
'This work is important not only for its profound and detailed instruction on tantra-yoga, as an inspiration and guide on the tantric path, but also as an historical work shedding light upon the heroic period of Tibetan history, the epoch of empire, and the life and activity of Guru Padmasambhava.'
'Keith Dowman's four essays on the historical and religious background and woman's place in the tradition introduce readers to the Buddhist Tantra and elucidate the main points touched upon by the text.'
'Mr Dowman's translation possesses an immediate, compelling voice, its clarity all the more remarkable when one considers the relative inaccessibility of the spiritual biography he translates...The brilliance of this translation stems from the fact that Dowman combines the linguistic and historic skills of a scholar with the insight and practical wisdom of a sadhaka. Jane Casey in ReVision.
'No doubt it will be found relevant by feminists who yet have to make much headway against the taboos of Western Christianity. Tantra may provide an exciting alternative.' Iain Finlayson in the Glasgow Herald.
'Tsogyel's biography overflows with profound meanings that either cannot or may not be fully explained in print. Where many fools have rushed in before him, Keith Dowman has trod lightly and well. Anne Klein in Parabola.
'PREMATURE READING OF THIS BOOK MAY SERIOUSLY DAMAGE YOUR HEALTH.' Michael Hookham in The Middle Way

Re: 2009 U.S. Teaching Schedule: here is the follow up, in the form of a set of book references
Fri, July 24, 2009 - 5:56 PM
This thread and mw writing are anything but "ignorant". This is profound teaching and the Great Perfection is beginning to flourish in many parts of the world today, through many great Buddhist teachers.
I am a scholar of Buddhist liturgical practice, a Buddhsit guru, and a scholar of Buddhist and non-Buddhist yoga.
I have over sixty Buddhist gurus, several of which are teachers to HH the Dalai Lama.
The references are detailed and the teaching is most classical, as it come s from India over two thousand years back, and it is the most treasured teaching of some of the greatest gurus, including Guru Padmasambhava, who helped establish this teaching to Tibet.
This is a major outreach article. Great Perfection, or Dzogchen, is a quintessential and ultimate teaching method for consciousness expansion, and no one can say otherwise.
You have been helped.
I would add that swearing in public is not a meaningful debate response, nor is it indicative of higher consciousness. Now you know.
I rest my case.

Re this thread: here is the follow up regarding listings; Relevance has been established. No one argues the content.

Re Yvette:
"If you are posting the same information on multiple tribes, you should consider posting it as a listing. Listings are intended for just that purpose, to provide information on a wide range of tribes at the same time. "
In some tribes, listings are recommended for services and products. I am aware of this and have posted event listings on different tribes.
My Dalai Lama article went out to many tribes as an article, and to some tribes as a listing. It is the only way I can post an article on a real Buddhist guru ( such as the Dalai Lama ) on the "tribe Buddhism". That tribe often sees attacks on Buddhism overall, the Dalai Lama. etc. and I am basically defending Buddhism and the Dalai Lama etc. there.
However, it is not possible to extend a listing, and develop the content or the communication. And much of what I am trying to do is to build bridges of communication among different tribes, and to establish relevance.
There is quite a bit more work involved in posting a major article to numerous tribes, and following up with responses to questions and/ or attacks. There are one or two people out of every 500 who insist on repeatedly attacking some of my articles. And that is VERY good, because I can respond with a clear answer. This builds real communication and strengthens my work in promoting authentic and classical forms of high level meditation and yoga, as taught by major recognized lineage holders.
I can't do that with a simple listing, which by definition admits of no real tribe discussion, questions, attacks and so forth. And without these, I cannot gauge what the response is. So I need to hear what people think as much as anyone else here.
You have not criticized the content not the form of the communication of my extended article, Yvette. The article As A Whole still stands. Everyone can see that. This is a most important point. With a listing format, no one could see that the content remains standing after many people have had the opportunity to view and criticize it, as in this case.
Thus, I rest my case for now. Relevance has been established. No one argues the content. This is success.
Thanks for keeping this article current. I appreciate it!
Again, you have been helped.

Re: Re this thread: here is the follow up regarding listings; Relevance has been established. No one argues the content.
Sat, August 29, 2009 - 8:12 AMLest anyone think I'm picking on K, the largest Buddhist internet forum requires that ordination and similar information be published prior to claims being made regarding monastic status and nearly every anuttara-tantra internet forum likewise requires people to provide information about the circumstances of their empowerments.
If these are the standards simple monks and novice tantric initiates held to, the standard for tantric gurus should be *at least* as stringent. Vajrayana has particular requirement regarding its gurus and anyone claiming to be a tantric guru should be prepared to show how, when, and under whom, they met those requirements. This is how the tradition has always guarded against fraudulent teachers. Simple common sense dictates that if you make a claim you should be ready to back it up with evidence, and this is a basic principle that extends well beyond just Vajrayana.
So, with that in mind I once again ask a few questions of K:
Please provide the name of the teacher(s) under whom you've been "individually trained and licensed" as a "Mahayana Buddhist guru".
Please also provide *your* name and the date of the licensing so that this claim can be verified.
Please provide the name of the teacher who oversaw your training as a Vajracharya and the date and location of your three-year-retreat. Additionally please provide the name (if different) of the individual who oversaw your x00,000 mantra and Fire-puja retreat, and as well as the date and location of that retreat (again, only if different from the three-year-retreat). As you well know, to be a tantric guru the samaya require it:
"This means that we may confer empowerment on others or perform the self-initiation to restore our lost or weakened tantric vows only if we have completed the meditation retreat of the appropriate Buddha-figure, repeating the prescribed mantras hundreds of thousands of times, and offered the concluding fire-puja"
I would like your name and the names of these authorizing lamas not only to verify that you are what you claim to be, but also to try elicit an official statement from them about your conduct on tribe. I strongly suspect that you are a fraud, but if you aren't one, I want to know what your teachers think about the way you behave.
Regards,
Ryan "not a guru" Parker -

Re Ryan:
"Lest anyone think I'm picking on K. . ."
Really?
I've seen this exact same challenge on over eight different tribes for at least three entirely different kinds of posts, such as for the Ganesh diety yoga article and the Dalai Lama article.
Anyway, Ryan Parker is anti-Shakespeare. He thinks it is ridiculous for a Buddhist to quote Shakespeare. How bizarre. Can't reason with him.
Please note that everything in my article still stands. It's all classical and authentic, and there is no self-promotion whatsoever involved. I make these teachings and teachers and yogas and transmissions known simply as a pure public service.
